Last night, whilst using the phone to go online, it just went dead, ie it wouldn't "wake up" from dormant.

I did the press-and-hold-on-button routine - nothing. I tried calling it, just got recorded message, hooked up to PC software and got "It's Locked - unlock it" message. Not a lot of good.

Next the manual. Nothing under reset or fault finding (a design flaw, Sony?)

Next the forum. Nothing direct but I did spot the reset method. Press and hold on and volume up. It worked! Phew.

So, the Xperia hasn't Xpired after all. I've seen the posts mentioning a blank screen after a software update but can't remember seeing any notification.

A big thank you to the forum!

Ian

HI @IanPRSY,

I am glad to hear you got it sorted!

It sounds like your phone was frozen/locked up while the screen was off. By holding the power and volume up buttons together you forced a shut down on your device. It usually resolves issues like this.

Hi CT,

Thanks for that. Solution ticked. I still think here should be something in "Trouble-shooting" in the Xperia documentation, though.

Ian
