Do I understand correctly that when you are charging your device, it only charges for a short amount of time and then it stops charging? Have you tried to charge the device when it is powered off as well and you have experienced the same behaviour?

Make sure that you are using the USB cable that was included together with the device and/or the wall mounted charger.

If one of your friends, family members or colleagues also have an Xperia device, you can ask them if you can borrow their cable/charger and see if you still experience the same behaviour.

Should there be no change after trying the above, try rebooting your phone in safe mode so we can make sure that no downloaded application(s) are the cause of this.
