Xperia L won't charge while turned off

I've got a really strange problem with my brand new Xperia L.

It does turn on, works like a charm, but it seems to do not charge while turned off. This happened after I updated it to the last firmware version, wich is actually the first thing I've done, via SUS.

The phone does not give signs of life even if I try to recover it via SUS, the combination of insert microusb+volume down doesn't work.

Phone still manage to turn on and to charge while turned on. Which makes me think that the usb port, usb cable and charger are completely functional.

I don't know what else can I do to fix this. Thank you for your help.

Repair your phone with SUS or PCC, if that doesn't solve the issue, take it to a Sony repair center

It'll be the same result, it seems that you have to stop by a Sony repair center

Same things I thought. Oddly enought, with PCC, the repair process actually started. The classic "What the..." situation

Hope this will solve my issue, don't want to send this phone on repair without even using it.

i had the same problem after using phone for a month it won't charge when switched off. i went to sony center from where i bought the phone and they just said update ur phone to latest version and it'll be okay.

I didnt update the phone cuz new update has lots of bugs.

at last i went to sony service center and they said there's someting 'sorted' and need to change motherboard.

they did something called 'PCB swap'

Now my phone charges in off mode too.

so i guess if nothing works for you then last choice is to visit service center.

I have same problem 10 days ago. Turn the phone off, remove battery and wait about 15 seconds. Insert battery and turn the phone on. I solved problem in this way.

Ive had this problem for a long time on and off, how on and off i tried the reprogramming ways others listed, but

this is the correct fix because it requires no reprogramming of the phone!!!
