Data transfer to SD card doesn't work after SW upgrade

Hello Forum,
I have to release some internal memory and move files to the SD card. It worked fine before SW ugrade but not anymore.
Currently I have about 0,9 Gb to be tranferred to SD card. It seems that operation is started but it will be interrupted after 4%.
The phone is Sony Aqua dual SIM. SW version is Android 6.0.1 / 26.3.B.0.131.

take everything off the card, reformat and mount, put everything back on

No. I'm just trying to do it from settings/storage/move data to SD-card.

I'm not familiar with a file commander.

Take it out, connect it to a PC, get the files you need.
Format as exFat, or Fat32.
Put it in the phone, remount.
