Xperia T receiving duplicate texts messages?

Had my phone 2 months now, but noticed i keep receiving the same text message twice, either straight away, or about 5 minutes apart. Doesnt happen all the time, but about 4/5 times a day.

I contacted my network who told me they havnt seen this for years, a 'mobile station error' where my phone doesnt always send a signal to my network to say i recieved it

They just told me to reset it, which i did, took it back to factory settings.....which worked for about 2 days, but i just received a double message again

Please can someone tell me if they no a fix, i really dont want to have to have the hassle of sending it back and wait for a repair

also happens to me but pretty rarely.

dont try repair because it wont work.

Hmmm, I have the same issue on 2 Xperia T handsets. One now booked in for repair.

Same issue on O2 and 3 networks, in different post codes.

Anyone else having this issue?

Yes! In Australia on the Vodafone network same issue with the Xperia TX. Reset to factory default several time but the issue keeps coming back. Also when you check the power saver mode which turns off data when screen is off, this sometimes will turn off data whilst you're using the phone which is very annoying, I hope the new Jellybean update will fix most of these issues otherwise I'll be demanding another phone cos this is pretty poor.

I get duplicates all of the time on my Xperia T. I'm in the UK on Orange/T-mobile. Have just been ignoring it but may pop into the shop to see if they have any suggestions.

I have turned off the "extended standby mode" and since then I have not had a duplicate text. Possibly a coincidence. Sony have said this would not be the cause!.

Anyone else with the issue got "extended standby mode" switched on or off?

I get duplicate texts also but I got them when I wasn't using extended mode and I get them with so possibly not the cause, for me anyway. I thought I was getting duplicates because my cell provider is a bit cr*p but if it's happening to other people...

Thanks for the info.

My first Xperia T is now with SBE (repair centre). Will let you know how I get on. If they can sort it out, I will then send in my second Xperia T, that also has the same issue!

I also have this problem but I only get a duplicate text if I don't read the first text message that was sent within approximatly 10 minutes then it seems the network sends it again like a reminder to read my messages I am on Orange/EE with Xperia T.

I'm also on Orange carrier.

I managed to make it work by installing another sms application from the market called Android 4.1 JB Messaging SMS.

Install this application and then disable the notifications from default SMS application (do not disable the application nor delete it !!!).

Hope this helps.

Update 19/06/2013

SBE the Sony repair centre still have my phone (3 weeks on
this occasion, 2 weeks last time around). I have just got off the phone to Sony
and apparently SBE have now seen the fault with their own eyes. They are said
to be working on a solution. I will be sending in my other Xperia T which too
suffers from the same issue once my handset is returned and I can confirm
that the issues is indeed resolved.

No solutions from SBE/Sony and getting "hammered" by duplicate text messages. Only an issue on my Xperia T handsets. Both on different networks. Sony not able to replicate issue!

Had an engineer visit my property the other day (completly unrelated) and I noticed he had an Xperia T. Guess what, he too said he receives duplicate text messages on his handset.

Anyone else having this issue?

On UK T Mobile.

Hasn't happened today, certainly an intermitant issue, odd only affecting Xperia Ts

Any othe suggestions/fixes?

I've been getting this problem for ages - Xperia T on Orange/EE. Sometimes get three messages arriving. It's not anything to do with not checking the message - often I have read the message, replied and still get a repeat copy of the original message come through after!

I have had this on Experia T and my previous Experia S but only when the SMS has been sent from an iPhone!

If they are being received multiple times instead of being sent multiple times then it is not your phone and is much more likely a network related issue. I would strongly advise contacting your current network provider to have them take a look into that for you.
