notification tone not working for my xperia P.

notification tone not working for my xperia P. What to do now?? Its vibrating but not ringing the tone while a new message or other notification is displayed.

Maybe your phone is on silent mode vibration only,you can see that in settings-sound.

No. It's not in silent mode. I'm getting the ring tone while the incoming call comes. I'm also getting the notifications including sms notification without tone. Balance notification after the call or sms is also obtained without tone. While restarting the phone, I'm getting the notification tone for some time. But after 15 min of restarting, it goes to the previous state, notifications without tone.

I have heard about this problem before,i think it needs either uninstalling apps like viber or whatsapp(if you are using) or repairing the phone with sony update service.

this thing actua;;y happened on my phone but repairing it using PCC and SUS fixed the poblem

The update is likely to fix it, however you can also try setting a different tone for the notification.

What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

I'm not using apps like viber or whatsapp. But I'm using nimbuzz. What about nimbuzz?? Is it the reason for the problem??

Otherwise, How can I repair it with sony update?? What I have to do with it to fix the problem?

have you try using other notification sound? ok if it still not working..

download PC companion here:

after downloading it open your PC companion. you'll see all the instruction there just make sure you have usb cable to connect it with your xperia P. if you have more question just reply back or pm godbless.

SMS notification sound goes to silent in some time after 6.1.1.b.1.54 and 6.1.1.b.1.75 update.

Is is due to other sound notifications (in many aplications like facebook, yahoo, etc).

You can try to fix it by SUS or PCC but the problem comes back...

It is STILL NOT FIXED...

SONY, please fix it in Jelly Bean !!!!

It is one of two most annoying problems (the second bug is half-dark photos on 8 mpx)

The problem still continues. Not fixed till now.

The various steps that I have done is below:

1. Checked whether its in silent mode. But its was not in silent mode.

2. Checked and changed the notification tones. No use.

3. Unistalled all the suspected apps like nimbuzz, alarm, sms pro etc. No use.

4. Repaired using pc companion. ie went to factory setting. It worked out for some hours. But after certain hours, the problem again started.

So I request sony to take necessary corrective steps to solve this problem in the next update and provide us the update as soon as possible.

frnds..i have found a workaround for this problem..the issue is because of the USSD code running after we make a call. So what we can do is set default notification tone to silent and keep separate notification tone for your text messages, email, fb notifications, gtalk etc by individually going into the setting of the respective apps. It will work fine after that. The defect is not a Sony one. It is present in all android ICS devices and hence it is google to be blamed.

You mean (set default notification tone to silent) none or silent ?? In glee been the option I found inside 'default notification' it is only 'none'

as i said earlier put your default notification to silent or none !! then choose different tones for messages, your facebook apps, watsapp etc and reboot once and your problem is solved !!

I got the same problem with z2, no sounds from any selective default ringtone.. Only alarm.clock is working.. I reset the phone twice and there is no.problem right after the set up, but after a few hours it back to a previous problem. Now, I am just using the phone vibration for incoming calls and notifications.
