Can't save new phone numbers to contacts

Hi,

I have been having trouble with my Sony Xperia J as it won't allow me to save contacts to it. I go into the contacts application and click on the add contact button in the top right hand side of the screen. It will give me a list of options of where to save the number to, either "Phone contact", "SIM contact" or "Google".

It doesn't matter which one I choose at this point because I can enter a name and a number, I have tried various ones, but when I click "Done" it comes up with an error saying: "Error. Cannot save contact changes."

I have read in a number of places to go into the filter options and tick both the Phone contacts display box and the SIM contacts display box, this makes no difference. I have also removed the SIM card and replaced it, this also made no difference.

Please help!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

That sounds quite strange. Try to go to settings > apps > all > contacts > clear data. Restart phone and try again.

Hi, thanks for replying.

However after doing this process I now get the error messages when I try to save.

When I try to save to the SIM it says "SIM full cannot add contact" and when I try to save to the phone it says "error cannot save contact changes".

I don't believe the SIM to be full as I only have 15 numbers on the SIM.

Any other advice?

Sounds a bit strange.

Are you syncing your contacts to any service like Facebook, Google+ or such?

In that case, try to stop the sync, restart the phone and try to update/save a new contact under contacts.

Hi,this post of yours is very old but I currently have same problem.. I get Error. Cannot save contact changes." When I try to add new contacts to my phone and I no longer see SIM option to even save contacts.. Also phone can read Sim contacts any longer.. Please help

Hi.... I own a Sony Ericsson E15i .... I have a lot of complains about this phone.. First, I cant save a contact.. I tried pressing add contact and fill the information needed , when Im Done it says Contact Saved but when icheck my contacts it says no contacts available..... Second , when I try to make a google account ..... It says I cannot connect to a network . We have a very strong router but still it cant connect.... PLS HELP ME !!!!!
