Xperia S (LT26)

Media Go V.2.6 B.205

I have gone through a couple of threads here to try to find a solution but nothing was relevant. I have already established that Media Go is not the fastest piece of software.

Nuts & Bolts: I have an Xperia smartphone and use Media Go to sync playlists. I noticed it takes twice as long as a usual drag-and-drop operation as it converts the media to the selected bitrate within the media format settings if the bitrate does not match.

Question: Is there any way to disable this audio conversion and just use the original format? Most my music is already in the AAC format since I used to own an iPhone but the all the bitrates are not the same.

Media Go will indeed change the format of your music so it'll be compatible with your phone, you could just drag and drop directly to

Computer > Xperia Go > SD card/Internal Storage > Music

I simply draged and droped the files onto the device's internal storage. But because Media Go is able to sync playlist I wanted to use it as an alternative.

The media (music in this case) is already converted to the correct format but the bitrates of my songs are higher than the specified settings.

I guess my original question should have been; if my current preferences are currently set to

Format: ACC

Bitrate: 192 kb/s

and I have a song that has the fallowing qualities

Format: ACC

Bitrate: 320 kb/s

Will Media Go create a 192kb/s version of my original song before transfering it to my device? If so, is there no setting to just directly transfer my original file?

I'll look into it but I don't think there's a way to transfer the original file (with media go)

Provided the file is in a format supported by the phone then as long as you keep the "only format when required by the device" option ticked, the file should transfer in it original format. If the file is not in a supported format then unfortunately there is no way to stop this if you don’t just drag and drop the file.

I have most of my music in aif format. Xperia X is able to play this format. For example if I move my music folders using Explorer, than I can listen to them without any problem.

But Media Go doesn't recognize Xperia X as a device capable of playing AIF format. So even though you activate 'convert files ony if requiered' it will convert the files to AAC when syncing using Media Go.

Any ideas?
