Contacts shortcut on homescreens

Please can anyone help?

A while ago I saw a tip for a way of adding multiple numbers to the contacts shortcut on the homescreen - I did it on a couple! Now I want to do this for another contact & I can't remember how to do it and despite searching the site I can't find anything here. To try to explain, when you long press and select a shortcut for a contact when you then press the green call button on the left to call them, you get a list of numbers to select from. I just can't figure out what you do to achieve this.

Long press on a homescreen , select shortcuts > contacts > select the contact you want to add..

The contact will appear..clck on it and you will get 3-5 options.. Tap the green call button..multiple numbers will appear..

Select it and call if you want to call a particular number tjen select , before calling , remember this selection..and then everytime you will press the green call button..it will call to that particular number only..

You can also add a widget of your favorites contact..

I mean those contacts which you used the most..

Long press the homescreen amd select widgets.then seoect favorites call and call log..something like that

Hi!

Thanks for your reply, but I am not getting any options after the long press, it's driving me nuts! There must be something you do to the contact first to get more than 1 number to display when you press the green phone symbol to dial out. Could the ability to do this have been lost with the latest software updates?

which long press are you talking about..??

make sure you have more than 1 number in your contact

otherwise it will directly call the number..

The one on the home screen.

This is what is wierd - I have a contact with 3 numbers (1 home, 1 work mobile & 1 mobile) but it is still directly calling the mobile number without showing the others first....

So you mean..you dont get options of shortcuts , widgets , wallpaper etc..?? Does the phone vibrate when you long press...mke sure you are pressing an empty space on the homesxreen otherwise option will not show up..

Ome more thing..just make a random contact with random nimbers and see if it shows multiple numbers or not..

You can check this by pressing the 3 heads in the contacts itself..there wil be a 3 head imAge besides all the contacts..press it , press the green cal button and see if you are getting multiple numbers or not..

This is happening because you chose to add a direct dial and not a shortcut to the contact. When you are adding the shortcut make sure you choose "contact" not direct dial.

Thank you all for your help.

I was so driven crazy by this that I added a 'fake' contact which worked correctly. I have no idea what I did originally when I entered my contacts, but have just spent a load of time amending them all by deleting & re-inserting all the phone numbers, it all now works perfectly. It seems like the phone numbers were being treated like text fields by the phone, but it was dialling correctly......

All is now well.
