Xperia Play Update Problem ! Computer freezes, phone switches off

Hi guys,

I have my play at android version 2.3.3 and build at 3.0.1.A.0.145 . When I plug phone to PC companion it shows there is an update to 4.0.2.A.0.42

When ever I give phone for update through pc companion the green light indicator glows in phone and my computer freezes and nothing happens. I had to restart both. Please help.

Looking forward for solution.

turn off your firewall and/or antivirus if that doesn't work restart your computer on safe mode (restart and press F8)

and then run Update Service

I tried connecting my phone in Safemode but it was not detected. I tried even with safemode with networking. Still no use.

Still the same issue. Iit asks for to hold the back key before connecting and continue to keep it. When it goes to updating mode my computer freezes and phone stays still with green light on.

In PC Companion, it will get stuck at "prepare-connecting to phone" stage. It wont go to update stage only.

i don't know is it same problem with you, i also having this problem when i update my PLAY from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4. but, this solved when i update my phone using Window XP (keep failed many times when i using window 7). i think is the bug of driver on window 7 ? or just my PC.. try it in window XP, may be can help u ...

I tried through safemode and it worked properly. My phone is fully updated now thanks to u all.
