Connect Internet using Sony Ericson x10 mini pro

Am using Sony Ericson x10 mini pro. I installed PC companion and PC suite in my laptop. When I connect mobile to laptop I see two option 1.Charge phone 2.Connect USB. I selected Option 2 to connect my mobile to laptop to use internet from mobile.

Through PCSuite and PC Companion am not able to access internet. In PC Suite it shows mobile not connected. Kindly help me:smileysad:

Try Menu>Settings>Wireless & Network Settings then select Tethering & portable hotspots whilst phone is connected and you should be able to select USB Tethering.

I have tried around more than 20 times by doing many experiment. But i never seen any option like "Tethering & portable hotspots" in my mobile. Thanks for your reply but i think this solution will not help me.

Oh my bad, I mis-read and didn't see "X10" Mini-pro. Assumed it was one of the 2011 phones.

Ok so that solution is not for your phone. You need an app to help you out, try either EasyTether or PDANet both available from the Android Market and offer a free trial then you can either carry on using it for free but certain functions aren't availabe or you can pay for the full app.

I have PDA Net on my X8 and X10 (altho the X10 now has Android 2.3 so can follow my first instructions). Basically you install the app on the phone and also on your PC/Laptop and as soon as you connect your USB it starts up from memory altho you can also click on the icon in your task bar on your pc screen you get the option to connect. You also need to make sure that you have USB Debugging ticked on your phone... Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging.

Thanks Sir.. I think "Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging" this is the real mistake which I did I think. Too happy with your response will reply back on Monday with the workaround done as I am on vacation for two days.

I installed PDANet both in my PC and Mobile. But it was unsuccessful to detect. It was asking Port number and Host number. I entered but it was recognizing only mobile devices not my laptop. Bluetooth was also enabled at that time.

Then I installed SE PCSuite.I observed one thing during connecting process. That is When I check the USB debugging option in mobile then for some time it starts to connect mobile to laptop but suddenly it gets disconnected.

I think it will not work out, will buy some data card only:smileyplain:. Thanks lot for your help!!:smileyhappy:

When I open PDANet application it ask for 'Set Network Proxy' . What host name and Port should I give? I think host name is the my laptop name(which i get in cmd =hostname) but what is the Port here?

For EasyTether am not getting what setting I should set? :smileyplain:.

2 years back i was using W810i that time I was not facing any problem but after buying 15K mobile problems are getting increased. More Money makes human more disturbed and unhappy

I have just connected my X10 with PDAnet, in fact this answer is being sent using my data connection from my phone. I cannot reproduce the problem you are having with your set up so I would suggest you look over at their website for troubleshooting ideas... http://junefabrics.com/android/faq.php

Once you run PDAnet in X10 dont you get any input field like Enter Hostname and Port??

Nope, I turn it on on phone and then click icon on my tool bar on my netbook (running WinXP) and it says connect to internet which I then click and away we go. Have you tried different usb ports? Is ISB debugging switch on on your phone? I really don't know what else to suggest, I am so sorry

I will enable all options in my mobile and will try once. I will not leave this problem as it is will make it to work one day

Hai one thing I forgot to tell, I have installed PDANet in my friend laptop through the link which you have told. I clicked on Instal button and it got installed but am not able to see it in tool bar or the path where it got installed. I tried to search in Add and Remove programs , Search field in Start .

If i try to install it again it will instal but not finding it where it is hidden:smileywink:. Sorry to post lot of problems ha ha

Tried with my X8 and it worked fine too.

Just tried searching on my netbook to see where it saved and its within the normal Programmes file.

The only difference I can think is that I have an older version of PDANet on my Netbook, V2.45 - older versions are still available from their website http://www.junefabrics.com/android/downloadold.php so it might be worth a try.
