no contacts and hung phone app after update to android 6

Hello smart people,

I've had this problem of contacts not showing up for a while. All apps such as Viber, What's App, Phone, GO SMS Pro would simply show phone numbers instead of names. This would happen randomly and seemingly without any visible cause. Luckily this was easily solveable by killing all active apps.

After the update to Android 6 symptoms got worse. Now, when this happens GO SMS Pro crashes, Viber is stuck - seems to be working but is not sending or receiving messages and Phone App just hangs and I get a message it is stuck and if I want to kill it. Unfortunately the trick with killing apps has no effect any more. The only thing I can do is to reboot the phone.

Any bright ideas ?

This are third party apps, you might want to uninstall > reinstall them, if you still experience the same issue you will have to contact the app developers.

Well Phone App is hardly a third-party app and there is no way to reinstall it.
