Following a recent system upgrade to my Sony Xperia Z3, the battery started running down quickly, then most recently the Bluetooth suddenly switched off whilst on a call and within an hour the phone shut down and will not switch back on.
I have had the battery replaced and all that happens when you turn on the phone is that "Sony Xperia" flashes on the screen then the phone goes dead. If the battery lead is disconnected and reconnected it does the same thing. I have consulted with a few phone repair shops and they have all said that they believe the problem is due to the system update.

The Xperia Companion does not seem to work because it will not recognise the phone when it is connected. The reset option using the On and volume down buttons does nothing or even the reset button next to the sim card slot.

I have had the phone for 16 months and have had no previous problems and it has not been dropped or damaged in any way.

I doubt that the problem is the update, most likely this is a hardware issue, the only thing to suggest here is to contact your Local support, perhaps the motherboard it's acting up.

Hi @GForce1059,

Welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this.

While it does sound like a hardware fault, before arranging a repair with your Local support team, try running a software repair using Xperia Companion. Even if XC doesn't recognise the phone, this may help as it attempts to reinstall the boot process. Failing that though, a physical inspection would be necessary.

Good luck.

It seems very strange that this happened so soon after the recent update. Also please do not tell me use the Xperia Companion unless you can explain how phone can be recognised by the system when it does not respond when being switched on or using the reset methods already mentioned in my original post.
Does the Xperia Z3 have a motherboard problem why it would die so quick? If it is a hardware problem I won't buying another Sony phone.

The Software repair process requires the phone to be powered off in order to initiate the software repair process. It will attempt to enter the phone into recovery mode where it will reflash and reinstall the firmware. If the issue is software related, the software repair will fix it.

There could be any number of reasons why this has happened. Without having it inspected, I can't tell you the cause.

Uliwooly, Please note that my Xperia has been well looked after and is in pristine condition i.e it looks brand new and it has not been tampered. You need to admit that there are issues with the Xperia Z3 for it have developed this so-called motherboard problem that has been suggested.
As the phone is no longer under warranty, and I am prepared to pay Sony Support to inspect it, I took it to a third party repair centre who says it's a motherboard issue. I thought the Xperia Z3 was fantastic before this issue and it was well looked after i.e never dropped or exposed to anything adverse. As such, I can only put it down to being unreliable for this to happen so soon. I will just buy a replacement phone rather than paying for this to be repaired as the same problem may re-occur.
