Xperia 5 V: USB charging will not work in my new VW Golf

Car / head unit make & model: Volkswagen Golf GTE 2025, MIB4
Phone make & model: Sony Xperia 5V (XQ-DE54)
Android OS version: 15
Android Auto app version: 13.9.651014-release
Google Play services version: 25.10.36 (260400-739992411)

I have previously Golf 2021 MIB3 infotainment, and AA/Charging worked fine.
Now with this new Golf I cannot charge my phone anymore via cable, data connection will work ok.

Same cable fast charging will work with my old Xperia 5 II, samsung A32 and my friends iphone with usb-c.

Fast charging will works also DJI drone battery hub.

I tested this also VW Passat 2025, same problem.

Charging in works also with old Nokia 8.

Xperia 5V fast charging works with home charger Sony UHC-32, and from my PC usb-c power delivery ports - so there is not wrong in cables.

Hi @tos-82, did you try a different cable with the Xperia on your car? Does it still not work? Can you try a different Android phone through the same charger of your Xperia through your car and check if it will work? Also, can you try the same cable on a different car through the Xperia 5V?

I have tested 3 different cables, one of them was sony cable from my old xperia 5 II.

Older android phones will work well, like Nokia 8, Samsung A35 and Xperia 5 II.

Iphone with USB-C will use fast charging on my car.

I tested charging Xperia 5V from vw dealer (Passat 2025, same infotainment system), Settings says not charging.

Im glad that wireless charging is fast enough, but my phone get hot.

I tested also developer mode and other usb settings, no luck.

I think that "no charging" feature came aftet Xperia system update 67.2.A.3.2.

I got the car at 12.3.2025 and Xperia updated itself at 24.3.2025

Update 67.2.A.3.16 came today, it did not fix the problem.

Now it is working.

Sony service wanted that i will reset my phone and use pc companion software via PC. I did not do it, because it is too much for start over.

After some latest updates, charging seems to be working and it say "fast charging".
