Hi, welcome to the Sony Forums

If you're running a recent OS on your PC you'll probably need to use a firewire (i.Link) cable with the DV-out jack on the camera and have a corresponding firewire port on your PC.

The process of connecting and transferring images to the computer is explained here.

Hi Mick,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I've bought a firewire and connected it between the camera and my laptop. With the camera on, the laptop makes the noise of recognising the connection to the computer but it doesn't register it on the computer.

I'm not terribly computer-savvy so if you've a solution, I'd be really grateful. I've tried phoning Sony but they weren't very helpful, just quoting from the manual......
