Hello @macdiv194,

if you still have the AV-leads (you can buy aftermarket ones if the original is missing), you can get a so called USB-Capture card to feed the video into your computer (in real time).

Such capture cards sometimes come with a capture software, make sure you get one with such a software included.

My personal favourite is the one from Magix: https://www.magix.com/us/video-editor/rescue-your-videotapes/

Hi everyone.

I have an elderly Handycam HDR-HC1E which I have never found the time to use, and which is in mint condition. I have a number of tapes (7) with family videos I want to download on to my laptop, before I give the camera to one of my grandchildren. I can't see any way to do this. Checked all the Youtube stuff and the Sony help screens. Neither of my laptops is equipped with firewire, but both have HDMI and obviously USB. Only an audio output jack. I am using Windows 10 on both machines. Loads of storage capacity and I've got several external HDs I can use. Anyone got advice/suggestions?
