Hi JTay60,

welcome to Questions & Answers..

If the Reader battery power is completely drained, the screen can retain the last image that was displayed and can give the impression that the Reader is frozen.

Have you tried connecting charging your PRS-350 via your PC's USB port, occasionally if the battery is very low you may find that an mains charger may be needed..

Yes, Thalamus, good tip. I had a freeze on the "screensaver" thingy once that wouldn't quit, and I powered down, shoved it in the wall, and all was fine after a few hours charging.

Mind you, it was a bit accidental, I didn't really know what I was doing, just getting desperate ! :smileyblush:

It was fully charged before it froze so does nothing when plugged into the wall or computer! But thanks for the suggestion.

But are you sure it is fully charged ? As it won't respond anyway ?

Have you tried a monster recharge ?

Yes, sorry, I meant an overnight charge with a mains charger - you can't overcharge these batteries, so as Thalamus said, that may be what's needed.

I don't think a reset will help, it sounds battery related, so I'd try that first.

It may be the battery has given up the ghost, but an overnight charge may wake it up.

After that a reset is worth a try, all you need is a paperclip ! See page 93 of the online manual (go to Support on the toolbar at top of this page).

If all this fails, the only solution is to contact Sony support regarding replacement - but unless your 350 is still covered either by a warranty , or qualifies under the Sale of Goods Act (for this type of equipment, around 12-16 months), you may find it cheaper to buy another - there are still some about, plus some refurb's . Or upgrade to T1/T2.

A new battery should easily last longer than 12 months, so it may be best to go back to the retailer and claim for a replacement under the Sale of Goods Act - your contract is with them, not Sony, and as such, it is their direct responsibility to sort it out - with Sony if neessary - at no cost to you.

But, if you've had it for 3/4 years, the battery could have just got fed up.

Yes, tried reset,but nothing! The ereader is 18 months old so no longer covered by the warranty. The shop I bought it from has closed so it looks as though we are at the end of the line - shame really. Thanks for the help and ideas.
