Sorry, but I think not that you can configure here anything. The BIOS has the control about the fans.

Desktop processors in notebook PCs IMO aren't a good idea at all. The battery life is usually terrible and they can also get very hot - they can only effectively be used as 'desktop replacements' with limited mobile use.

I bought a GRT series computer with a 2.8GHz desktop processor - it has about 45 minute battery life and has probably only been used for a total of 48 hours because the fan noise & heat is unbearable when I have it resting on my legs. It could turn you sterile after a couple of hours use if you don't wear heat resistant pants.

LOL, same problems here. Noisy Fan, the temperature increased terrible fast, and so on. But I think the battery lifetime of my FR series is pretty good for a 2,66GHz P4 + WLAN. (approx 50 - 60 minutes)

I think the FS series with 1,7GHz and 2 hours battery lifetime is here the really looser.:smileytongue:

i used to have a fan control in my energy saver- i remember playing with it. (only had the vaio 3 months) and in c:/program files/sony/
i have a 'vaio power management' utility. when i try to launch it i just get a message:

"you cannot use VAIO power management viewer when vaio power maangement is disabled. Please opne power options from control panel and enable vaio power management"

there doesn't appear to be this option in under 'power' unless it's enabling the 'vaio optimised' profile. even then i get teh same message.

i guess windows has auto-updated and this is no longer relevant?
