Rumour of new Vaio Pocket relatives

I today popped into my local Sony Centre planning to buy me a slip case for my lovely music player. Alas, they did not stock them. On the other hand I found out something rather interesting, apparently (according to the salesman) Sony has a range of Pocket accessories lined up for release but this was all he told me.
I dunno how much faith I should put into this 'news' as I would've thought Sony would have released them by now. But I thought I should let you guys know anway.
If someone knows anything about this please post here everything you know!

Wow, great news if its true.

Did the salesman give any clues or hints at all about what accesories are coming?

A docking station with buit in speakers and a wireless remote control would be nice,
i would love a radio accesory for the vaio too,
maybe a lead that converts the vaio's usb type port into a normal usb (for connecting to a computer without the dock)

Sorry for starting an accesory wish-list.

If Sony treat Vaio pocket users in the same way as they treat Vaio notebook users then their next accessory will be a replacement model and the previous model will be totally forgotten about, no further updates will be made available etc.

Perhaps Sony will prove me wrong in this case but my experience indicates that this is unlikely .............

I think that user pressure is the only way to get Sony to properly support their products.......

Flash design isn't always the way to attract customers - functionality and support is more important in the long haul. Once bitten. twice shy.

Yeah i do agree with you, but it's not just sony, all major elecronics companies are guilty of not being as supportive to customers as they should be somewhere down the line.

But i think with pressure from apple's ipod accessories, sony will probably be forced into making some.

Apple have the advantage of huge third party manufacturer support for their iPod purely because of the vast numbers of iPods in circulation. Sony haven't got this advantage because they haven't sold as many players, don't appear to believe in allowing third party support, and will probably totally change the design of the next (if there is a next VP) model.

I agree with Rob.
I have kind of gone off Sony completely.

Although I really like the look of U1, which would have been my Notebook whenever I bought one.
But now, I feel like selling the V1 - I cant even use the TV thing anymore and getting an iBook, yay!

For most things, compatibility is good. http://www.apple.com/uk/switch/ gives an overview for PC switchers & users.

I have my Mac networked with my PCs and I haven't had any problems.

It does sound great! Besides its only like $999 - not bad eh? for a smaller notebook, I dont want a big one to carry around with!

The battery life is good as well. I would recommend you find somewhere where they will let you 'play' with a demo model. Also hang around for a little while on one of the Mac forums and see what they say.

You're right there Rob - Sony don't have third parties to help, and they don't want them either, because they afre so scared to share anything.

They're like a greedy kid, hogging all the good stuff !

the only accessory for vp is the carry case and that is just not much as it doesnt even have a blt clip[vgp ckp1 model...]

i saw a speaker base for ipod the other day,your ipod sits in and the base speakers play your music...i can tell you id love to have one of them!!

other than that,there are new vaio pocket models on the way,such as
"The VAIO PCVA-HVP20 contains a 20GB hard drive and has a 3.5-inch TFT LCD that occupies about half of the front of the unit. A navigation joystick and three buttons sit under the display and provide all of the controls needed by users, according to a photo issued by Sony."

&HMP-A1 which is not a vaio model as far as i know but is like a vp with video playback capability,but ive only heard about 20gb models yet.from what is said"What's surprising is that the VAIO Pocket HMP-A1 supports MP3 files rather than the company's own ATRAC audio format, which suggests that Sony has finally acknowledged that proprietary formats aren't the way forward."

Sorry but I feel Sony have really sh**ted on you from a great height by not getting more accessories - it's just not fair.

It's not that difficult either, and would generate jobs.
But I guess once you're at the top you don't give two sh&ts about the little people.
