topic maybe not XP compliant in PCs & Accessories

Install Sound Card ---- HELP!

This board doesn't seem very lively, but hopefully someone can help me. I'm at my wits end...

Just got a PCV-RX830, and I'm trying to install a sound card (Philips Seismic Edge 5.1 - PSC705). I've disabled the integrated sound in the BIOS menu, but when I try to install the driver for the Philips, I get error messages in the wizard that say "Cannot start this hardware" and an error code 18: reinstall driver. I'm about to smash something trying to get this damn thing working. Please help if you can.

Funny this, I actually just installed an SB Live PLayer 1024 in my 405 last night as I wasn't overly impressed with the nForce. I didn't get any errors, although it did take a while to find out where you set the default sound devices!
All I can really suggest is making sure you have the right drivers, and making sure the card is seated right.
Hope you get somewhere, it does make a difference having a decent card

The following link gives you the Philips manual on PDF. It seems to be for win98,ME and 2000. Are you running XP ??
