KDL-43W807C recording to HDD fails as TV set turns off before the program to be recorded

My KDL-43W807C TV set recording to the registered HDD worked well earlier. Recently, however, I noticed that several pre-set (time-scheduled) recordings have failed due to turning-off status of the TV set. I set the recording schedule e.g. 18.00, (orange light is on) and I noticed that before the start of the recording itself, the TV set turns off automatically (no light). Obviously, unless I just watch the TV set at the scheduled time, recording fails as TV set is being off. TV set turns off not when recording should start, but some time before.

Has anyone met similar disfunction? Any suggestion?

Thanks,

Csaba

If you elect Static IP, you have to individually set the internal IP address for every device in the category, taking care not to overlap with any DHCP set IP addresses; the usual solution is to set a range for DHCP to use excluding any range of Static addresses you may have.

But very few devices need a Static IP address; home security cameras maybe, but not your TV.

However you can’t just turn Static addresses on and off if you have been playing with them in ignorance of the above.

Turn them all off, and then reboot your router so it can set all the DHCP addresses again from scratch; you should then find that your connections succeed.

Hey @jcsaba, I think that you can try to do these steps and test it:

1-Unplug the main power cord of the device, and plug it back after 2 minutes.

2-Disconnect any external devices connected to the back of the TV.

3-You can try the steps mentioned here.

4-Perform a factory reset using this link.

Simple unplug of the main power cord and/or disconnect external device  did not helped at all. I haven't tried yet factory reset as other software (Kodi) is downloaded which I need to back up and later restore somehow (as Google Play offers only the most updated version).

At the same time further error appeared: playing back the recorded video (it is successful if the TV set is on for any reason when starting the record), sound stops after 5-8 minutes. I stop, close the video and start again, during the following 5-8 minutes sound is OK, then it stops. So sound is recorded, but time after time it stops during play back.

@jcsaba What's the software version on your TV?

Bravia 2015

Android 7.0

PKG5.433.0183EUA

I did a factory reset. To my greatest sorrow, after the reset:

1. Import of pre-saved channels (Sony Editor) from an USB does not work: Under this setting, simply the transfer of programmes option is not active. It becomes active if I disconnect the USB, by pressing import option, it indicates that there is no USB. It worked normally before factory reset.

2. As Sony remote controller gradually became unusable, I downloaded from Google Play Sony Remote application to my mobile phone, which is not 100 % perfect, but still solves most of my problems with the physical remote controller. Before factory reset, I worked well through wi-fi connection. After the reset, my mobile phone cannot connect to the Bravia 2015 TV set through my home wifi. At the same time chromecast mirroring is ok, therefore they are connected to each other trough the wi-fi.

Is teher any solution to Problem 1 and 2??

As complement to my post I search for an explanation in connection with point 2. (app. TV Remote control for Sony TV version 9.4.47). Mobile phone can be connected to Bravia TV set under the above app. if Wi-Fi network on the TV is set to static IP option. If Wi-Fi network is set to DHCP IP option, connection fails. At the same time, if Wi-Fi is set to static IP, connection to the (home) network is ok, but no internet. My knowledge in IT is very modest, so can anybody explain the the role of static or dynamic IP of a device in a wi-fi network? Other device (such as mobile phone or lap-top) has no such option in setting of wi-fi connection. What should be the correct setting of Sony Bravia 2015 TV when connecting to home wi-fi network: static IP or DHCP IP?

Problem 2 (connection of mobile phone as remote control to TV set) has been resolved by IP adresses.

Problem 1 (transfer of programme list to USB bottom is inactive) still prevails despite a successful update of firmware to v 5.457.

Back to the basic errors: a) recording to HDD fails as TV set turns off before the program to be recorded; b) sound is recorded, but time after time it stops during play back. Out of the two mentioned errors, b) seems to have been resolved by the factory reset, a) still prevails

Any suggestion?

@jcsaba I'm sorry but I can see that you mentioned (resolved by)!! Clarify if you're still facing these issues and also give more details about transferring the list to USB bottom!!

The factory reset has not resolved either the recording problem (at pre-set time TV set turns off instead of starting recording), or the sound stops during play-back problem.

As far as the transfer of program list, I realized what was the problem: transfer of program list bottom is inactive if more than one UBS drive is connected. Earlier I used a sperate HDD to record TV programmes, now I use an 64 GB UBS to be connected to HDD port. With the earlier separate 500 GB HDD connected to HDD port, the transfer of program list bottom was active when connecting an UBS pendrive to the TV set. At the same time I also realized that as opposed to the earlier HDD, which I could not use in a desktop Windows PC unless re-formatting is made, the current 64 GB UBS connected to HDD port for recording can be used by PC without re-formatting. So the sdb.xml Sony Channel Editor file can be saved to this UBS by the desktop PC, or any file can be deleted.  I have no idea whether this favourable change is caused by the firmware update or by use of UBS instead of HDD. Transfer of program list is solved, access to internet is not yet as posted in "Static or Dynamic IP setting when connecting to home wi-fi network?"
