Sony v Sony ( siblings not communicating)

Having been a longstanding fan of Sony imagine my disappointment upon purchasing my Sony 65" 9005 tv and upon inserting a 3D blu-ray into my Sony 800 player getting the message my display is not compatible.

Sony THIS IS A DISGRACE.

Sort out the firmware please £2000 invested and not working Grrrrr!

Pull your fingers out of your ears and fix the problem.

Spoiler

3D is dead :tired:

It was always a bit of a headache, for manufacturers and users alike, though I expect those 2015 and 2016 3D sets in the sweet spot with HDCP2.2 and HDR will command a respectable premium in the pre-owned market in the future.

But the firmware cavalry aren’t going to ride to your rescue here, so to protect your current investment in 3D Blu-rays, this setting, switched from Auto to Off on your 800, is your friend:-

x [3D Output Setting]

[Auto]: Normally select this.
[Off]: Select this to display all content in 2D or to enjoy 4K output using 3D content.

The wording of the latter could usefully be improved to make it clearer that it means to present 3D HD content upscaled to 2D 4K, but that is a detail for Sony to attend to.
