As complement to my recent post „RE: KDL-43W807C recording to HDD fails as TV set turns off before the program to be recorded” I search for an explanation in connection with point 2 of my 2nd post (app. TV Remote control for Sony TV version 9.4.47). Mobile phone can be connected to Bravia TV set under the above app. only if Wi-Fi network on the TV is set to static IP option. If Wi-Fi network is set to DHCP IP option, connection fails. At the same time, if Wi-Fi is set to static IP, connection to the (home) network is ok, but no internet. My knowledge in IT is very modest, so can anybody explain the the role of static or dynamic IP of a device in a wi-fi network? Why does the TV set indicate that connection ok, but no access to internet when static IP is set? A TV set is not so mobile as a phone or tablet to change the Wi-fi network. If I set a static IP, how to configure manually the connection (other parameters)? What should be the correct setting of Sony Bravia 2015 TV when connecting to home wi-fi network: static IP or DHCP IP?
@jcsaba So from what I understand you have an issue with WIFI connection of the TV regardless of the settings ?
Are you following these steps Connecting your BRAVIA TV to the internet ?
Yes, I have problems with connection of Sony TV to internet by Wifi or LAN. The issue came up after a factory reset. It is said by other forums that the problem is associated with the settings of home network, but before the reset, no such problem occurred. When trying to change settings on Sony TV, I realized that there are so many options with network connection settings (e.g. fix IP or DHCP and others), so with my 0 knowledge in home network management, I have no expertise to make any change in settings. The current situation is that connection to the home network by wifi or LAN is OK, but access to internet by Sony TV is OK for 2-3 days, than the next day no access to internet. I asked if IP addresses allocated to my devices are the same, what is changing in 2-3 days? I was said that subject to the settings of router, DHCP lease and/or DNS server is updating in 24-48 hours. That did not pose a problem before factory reset, either on any other device on the same network (desktop PC, Lap-top, mobile phones etc) before and now. I was adviced to set simple IP setting, which I did first: Network Setting - Simple
Secondly: Home Network Settings - IP control
Simple IP control bottom: on
I wait 2-3 days and come back with the result.
