Hi,
I have a KD(or KDL?)43XE8396 Sony Bravia 4K Android TV. I think it still has Android 7, but I am not sure, because since it was 'updated' with something about two yrs ago, the update (as usual) did nothing noticeable to fix issues, and at least didn't 'break' something else!
With it I currently still use a PS3 for which I have the 6axxis & DS3(6axxis) controllers plus Blu-Ray Remote, along with 'Move' controllers.
I am hopefully getting a PS4 'slim' as soon as it is available (can't afford PS5 would NEVER want XBOX), but can't find any SONY branded Blu-Ray Remotes for PS4, or a 2nd DS4 controller for a reasonable price or from any seller that I would be happy to buy it from (like GAME, or similar) .
So should my Sony TV remote be able to have 'some' control over bluray player functions either on my PS3 (or PS4 when/if I get it), or are those buttons on Sony TV remote only for spefiic models of Sony Blu Ray players (NOT including the PS3/4)?
IF my Sony TV remote CAN have some of that control on a PS3/PS4, does the console need to be connected to HDMI3(ARC) for it to work as well as 'bravia link' being enabled.
HDMI 3(ARC) is currently used for Fire TV device, but my TV has 4 hdmi's (#2 currently not used).
Also would 8 Oreo fix issue of multiple duplicates of 'sources' names thumbnails appearing at bottom of GUI and having 'Player1', 'Player2' showing up when using source button.
My TV regonises my Fire TV & Roku but without me having to change the hdmi label but it also still shows the hdmi number label as a duplicate whether I name it or not meaning TWO 'thumbnails' each for Roku & Fire TV, & one for PS3 & my other 'tv box' which it does NOT 'recognize' by default.
Should my TV likely also recognize a PS4 like it does Roku & Amazon Fire TV devices?
I would prefer it did NOT 'recognize' them like that and then create duplicate labels or DO 'recognise' and 'delete previous 'un-named' label.
thanks for any help
I'm not sure about control options on the PS3/4, but to control any external device through HDMI, Bravia Sync has to be enabled and if the PS3/4 supports that same feature, you should enable it in the settings as well.
PS: It's a good idea to always keep the TV updated to the latest software version.
