BDP-S185 won't turn on and disc stuck inside

Hi all. My BDP-S185 froze up so I did the usual turn off at the wall as this always works. However, this time there's no response from the player at all. I've changed hdmi cables as suggested in another post but no luck.

I can return it to the store for a replacement but there's still a disc inside. Does anyone know how to manually open the disc tray ?

I'd actually take it to your local service centre to get the disc removed. Device is under warranty and they administer the warranty, so best placed to actually sort the issue out..

Thanks

Hi,

unfortunately blu ray drives cannot be opened up like computer drives can with a pin in the little hole in the front!, i would suggest you return it to the store and see if they can help you retrieve the disc by other means, please do not attempt to do so yourself as this may revoke any warranty you may have on the unit.

I know this is an old thread but our player has just done exactly the same thing. You can however retrieve the disc from the player quite easily. On the left hand side of the player you should see a small pinhole like the ones on the front of a computer DVD drive. If you straighten a paper clip and push it into the hole, you should meet a lttle resistance. Push a little harder and the disc tray will pop out just enough for you to grasp it and gently pull it out and retrieve your disc.

Not happy with Tesco telling us we have to contact Sony to sort it out. Trying to get through on the phone is a very frustrating experience so far as after waiting around 15-20 minutes my wife was cut off.

Obviously you should make sure the player is unplugged before attempting this.
