Assuming you are non living in France where they stopped broadcasting in MPEG2 (so there our good old HXD870 has become obsolete being that it doesn't support MPEG4) you have probably some problem stiil with the memory of your recorder. To solve it (if you never did it), reset it (by pushing stop and off button on the deck), unplug it from power for 2 minutes and than proceed with the easy setup procedure: it should work.
Remember that resetting the recorder you'll lose all the setting (not the HDD content)
PS: I assume also that you have the latest fw instaled (1.70), if not apply it
