Hello,
I like the Sony Xperia L1, but I haven't been able to use my data plan to access the Internet. I've only been able to use the Internet at my home network or via free WiFi at a coffee shop. How can I set the phone to use the data plan for Internet access when free WiFi isn't available?
Thank you.

Hi @KaoSan,
To be able to use the Internet without having an active Wi-Fi connection you will need to enable mobile data in your device and make sure that you have the correct APN settings added in the device as well as having a subscription that allows the use of mobile data.
To start with, I recommend that you connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and then download the Internet settings. You can find this in Settings > More > Internet settings, tap accept and wait for them to be downloaded and installed then reboot your device.
You can also get in touch with your service provider (operator) and ask them for the specific APN settings that they use and then you can manually add them in Settings > More > Mobile networks.
- Tap Access Point Names, then tap the plus (+) sign and enter the access point name.
- Tap Name and enter the name of the network profile that you want to create > OK.
- Tap APN and enter the access point name > OK.
- Enter all other information required by your network operator.
- When you are done, tap the menu button (three vertical dots), then tap Save.
You will also need to active mobile data in Settings > Data usage.
Let me know if that helps!

Hi,
That worked. I also needed to select the option button next to the added APN.
Thank you!

Hi,
Although I entered my Red Pocket Mobile APN successfully and saved it, and it worked; a couple of days later it's gone. Yet, the "ATT Nextgenphone" and "ATT Phone" APNs still exist. How can I make my added APN "stay" and not disappear later?
Thank you.

Hi again @KaoSan, sorry to hear about this and I apologize for the late reply.
Are you able to download these settings automatically if you go to Settings > More > Internet settings?
Try that and if it still doesn't work, please try with a different or a new SIM card in the device.
Keep me posted!
