Hello
As of yesterday, I've updated to the new Android version and I've spent the last few hours cursing it as a bunch of icons have vanished and things are all over the place.
However my biggest gripe is that the icon which I used to have on the taskbar for switching the phone to silent (including all notifications, texts, calls, etc) has vanished. Now the only way I can find to put the phone onto silent is to go all the way into the menus and put the volume all the way down to 0. I've been through the settings menus now many times and still can't find another option anywhere.
I have not seen this same issue being reported elsewhere...so maybe its just me?
Any advice is most appreciated!

In lollipop, just press volume up or down, then tap on the bell to get to vibrate or silent. It is a little bit different though:

If you are running 5.1.1, see the above link.
Thank you for the prompt reply, alexdon.
With your assistance, I was able to change the ring sounds from bell to vibrate which is great, however there is no such option available for notifications (email mostly) that I've found yet. Pressing that icon in the "Notification Sound" screen only plays the sound, there is nothing to switch it to silent or vibrate.
All that being said, there is a rather ambigous title in the Sound and Notification menu called do not disturb?
The bell icon is only showing on the ring volume, there is no such option on Notification Sound.
So you want to change notifications for apps so that they only vibrate? In that case, you have to change options for each app unfortunately.
I don't think the generic email is really a specific app? Or maybe it is, not entirely certain. However this does give me an idea to take a closer look at email settings.
I have 3 email accounts running into a "combined inbox" so all of the new messages end up in the same window. If I can find the notification sound/settings for that, then that should sort the issue!
Thank you again, alexdon, you've certainly given me some food for thought there. :smileysmileythumbsup:
No problem, the default email app has some inbuilt settings but I am not using it at the moment.
So @_Gavin_. Have checked and you can tap on each account. There is a field called notification. Tap on it, there you have further settings. Vibrate, light etc.
Ahhh that's great! Now if only there was a shortcut option on the taskbar like there was pre-update to put the whole phone on silent (calls, texts, emails, all alerts) then that'd be me sorted!
But thank you very much for all the assistance, I've discovered through this how to put the email checkbox back on so deleting is made that much more simple; what a result!
Thank you again for all your help.
