new SD card and apps

Hi,

I bought a new bigger micro SD (32gb sdhc) card to replace the old one (16gb sdhc).

My problem: after copying everthing from the old card to the new one (by drag and drop via card readers at PC), when I insert the new one, many things don't work (Apps especially cannot be found or started).

I tried using xperia companion, the plan was to make a backup, and the insert new card and do recovery from the backup saved on PC.

But saving a backup alwayls fails (it starts but then get's stuck at some point or sometimes I get almost immediately a errr  message.

So what can I do?

Hi @dullek,

I'm sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Changing from an old SD card to a new one is always a bit tricky when it comes the applications. Photos, music, videos and so on works fine with just a regular drag and drop using a file commander in a computer or a file commander application the phone.

Regading the applications. You have 2 options, either you reinstall all the applications that you previously transferred to your SD card from the Google Play store and after doing that move them to the SD card again.

Second option is to mount your old SD card again in your phone > transfer the applications back to the internal storage (this requires you to have enough free space on the internal storage) > mount the new SD card and transfer the applications once again to your new SD card.

Xperia Companion can't backup data saved on an SD card, it will only backup data stored on the internal storage of your phone.

Let me know if that helps! Slightly_smiling_Face
