new update promised to delete Google apps - but it didnt.

Xperia M4 Aqua -, android 5.0 - new update promised to delete some of preinstalled annoying Google apps that take nearly 2 GB (!!!) of memory. But after update they are still installed. Is Sony cheating?

check this:

http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/10/14/new-firmware-rolling-for-xperia-m4-aqua-26-1-a-2-167-and-m4-aqu...

I installed this update (it comes automaticaly with PC companion) and believe me when the update started there was written the same as it is in the link above - some Google apps will not be installed to safe you a space and you can install them later from Google play.... News Stand, Google+ and some other.

Interesting.

To free up memory for you we’ve removed some preinstalled applications and corresponding data: Books, CloudPrint, FaceLock, GoogleTTS, Keep, Newsstand, NewsWeather, PlayGames, PlusOne and talkback. However, they will remain if you have updated them at least once. Note that all apps, except FaceLock, can be downloaded again from the Google™ Play Store (where available).

Did you read the highlighted part? And are any of those mentioned removed? There is also the part that uli mentioned about some apps that will be region specific.

Also, please try to be respectful with those that are trying to help.

I do not understand why are you picking on the visitor that has a problem.

You are not helpful and you do not want to get into the problem.

As what goes to solving the problem: if you had these programs updated (as like autoupdate) then the apps stayed.

The solution: backup the device and do factory reset.

However, for some reasons unknown, factory reset does not free as much space as does update - and yet, it does free some hundreds of MB-s space.

This update works like this only with 8 GB device (obviously - because this device lacks enough device storage memory).

Yes, I didn't see that text about updated applications. Thank you guys. Now Backup and Factory reset.
