new update promised to delete Google apps - but it didnt.

Xperia M4 Aqua -, android 5.0 - new update promised to delete some of preinstalled annoying Google apps that take nearly 2 GB (!!!) of memory. But after update they are still installed. Is Sony cheating?

I do not understand why are you picking on the visitor that has a problem.

You are not helpful and you do not want to get into the problem.

As what goes to solving the problem: if you had these programs updated (as like autoupdate) then the apps stayed.

The solution: backup the device and do factory reset.

However, for some reasons unknown, factory reset does not free as much space as does update - and yet, it does free some hundreds of MB-s space.

This update works like this only with 8 GB device (obviously - because this device lacks enough device storage memory).

Where did you read that nonsense? Android allowing users to delete Google apps? that won't happen, please do post the source link

When the update process started, there was text that some application will be deleted (they were listed - about 10-15 preinstalled apps) and can be installed again through Google Play. I cannot get the text back however - I made this update (it took me 2 hours) only because of this information that stupid google apps will be deleted. Therefore I am 100% sure that there was this information.

to be more clear - it said that new Android update will be installed without these apps. Not that user can delete them - they simply will not be installed in this update.

You clearly misread, what it said was that since its a major update, your apps will be deleted, not that you are allowed to delete preloaded GOOGLE APPS, you can't delete them unless you root the device, again, Android belongs to Google, which one of their requirements to use Android is to preload their apps.

You can google around

https://www.theinformation.com/Google-s-Confidential-Android-Contracts-Show-Rising-Requirements

or

http://www.androidcentral.com/your-new-phone-will-have-less-google-bloatware-and-thats-awesome

I've been flashing and upgrading a Z3 and a Z and a T2 the past few days, I haven't seen such message.

Sorry but I didnt misread.

And once again - it didnt say that you will be ALLOWED to delete BUT that this update brings you some new features and bla bla bla and then there was said that new update will be INSTALLED without some predinstalled apps. Me and my friend were looking at that and - once again - only because of this information I have started this update. It was official update from Sony PC companion. I am 100% sure mate.

Perhaps what you read were some Sony and third party preloaded apps, but Google apps will come with Android, its required by Google. Some apps could've been facebook, an antivirus, and other regional apps

of course I know about Google and Android - but I am really sure. All of "missing apps" were listed. One of them was Talkback and Sketch. Only these two I remember. But they were about 15 of them.

talk back its a service you have to download, sketch its a Sony app, preloaded apps vary per region
