Hi, after just getting my phone, the little quick start says NOT to put it under water but is splashproof \washproof, yet the Sony site http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/phones/xperia-m4-aqua/features/ says it is up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 mins at a time.
If it is not then I want to return it as I am not going to invalidate my warranty because Sony themselves have got it wrong - or is it false advertising regardless?

The phone it's waterproof as long as you firmly closed the covers and there is no physical damage on the phone, contact your Local support and request a "Vacuum Test", this will prove who is at fault

Hi uli,
Thanks for the speedy reply,
Although it doesn't really answer my question.
Sony state that both it is and it isn't submersible.
To quote the startup guide " you should not put the device completely under water or expose it to seawater, salt water". etc etc.
But the link above says otherwise.
I respect what you wrote that a vacuum test can be done to see who is at fault etc but what if I have my phone in the water (following the guide by not more than 1.5 m and 30 mins" that will still show as being "underwater" - does that make sense?
I am writing this oin a tablet and the tiny screen doesn't allow me to see what I have completely wrote.
Thank you once again.
Sea/Salt water and chlorinated water will corrode the seals. But do request a vacuum test.
