Xperia M2 - Auto rotate isn't working

Hello forum members,

I got my Xperia M2 back a few hours ago after having it repaired. However I've noticed that the Auto-rotate refuses to work even with me looking in settings, display, Auto-rotate.

I've had no luck on getting it to work. Whether it's activated or not, it doesn't seem to respond to it.

As a last resort I've ended up here. If someone could provide a solution it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Reece.

I've had the same problem on my M2 from new. Only downloaded apps I have are Whatsapp and Evernote. Both came as standard on my old Xperia J.
Switching off and on is a temporary fix - lasts about a week. Problem sometimes follows a phone call but also happens at other times. V annoying when using for sat nav

Restarted in Safe-deposit, screen rotation all good, problem disappeared on normal restart... Go figure!

When I first got my Xperia M2 Aqua in March this year, the auto orientation failed. Sony then released an update that fixed the problem in May I think. Everything was good until early August I got a notice about a new update, and it resulted in the same fail along with a few other problems.

I have spoken with the tech department a few times. They told me to repair my phone using the PC software. It didn't help.

After that, they told me to uninstall updates and disable Google Services from my phone - And it helped! My phone could auto rotate after a longer call again - however, I could not use any google applications.... So I had to choose between Google Apps or automatic screen orientation. I have chosen Google Apps.

I've read about Sony releasing Lollipop for M2 Aqua, so I guess we have to wait for that one to come before getting rid of this error.

I often experience that the autorotate don´t work at all. I have to shutdown phone and turn it on again to get i work..but it only works for a short period of time.

I recently got a new update and since that the autorotate problem has occured.

My phone version is right now:

Android 4.4.4

Version number;

18.3.1.C.1.17
