3g in xperia arc

how to activate 3g in my xperia arc,when i put a 3g sim (vodafone)  it does not show 3g at all it shows (H),please tell me how to activate 3g on my phone

i also have a vodafone 3g and i also get h..

but my frined's wave 2 shows 3g dont know why....
