for xperia arc

how do i disable the vibrating alert for messages without enabling silent mode? even though i selected never for vibrate,still the phone vibrates when messages are received. vibration for messages is only disabled when i am in silent mode. also,how do i disable the vibration when unlocking the screen? thanks!!!

open the messaging app -> press MENU -> settings -> uncheck Notification Vibration

settings -> sound -> scroll down -> uncheck audible selection audible touch tones, screen lock sounds, haptic feedback

btw which android version do you have?

settings -> about phone -> android version and build number

thanks! i have removed the vibrating alert for the messages but still the vibrate is there when unlocking the phone. can it be removed? android version 2.3.3 build number 3.0.1.A.0.145

the only way to do so its by installing another lockscreen or lockscreen widget

but there are many others that will let you customize it, by default the lockscreen will vibrate, sorry
