SONY BRAVIA TV KDL-22BX200 Loss of Picture Sound still works

I am contacting SONY support for advice on how to repair my BRAVIA KDL-22BX200 24" TV - which has no picture but the sound is working.

The TV was purchased from ARGOS store in Haverfordwest and the product serial number is: 00401498.

I have had very good service from this TV and it about 18 months in use.

Your help is requested- a quick reply is appreciated.

Thankyou.

Yours faithfully,

Fiona Madan

Hi there

No picture but sound is ok - Is that on Freeview or another connected device?

By the way, this is a Community Forum, and not Sony directly themselves.

This is using Freeview only. Have not tried using the screen as a monitor connected to a PC.

The TV is a 22" unit and not 24" as per my rarlier message.

Hi there

A couple of things it could be:

  1. You may have turned the brightness/contract all the way down accidently
  2. The Freeview channel might be slighly off and need fine-tuning
  3. Hardware fault - Backlight
  4. Hardware fault - Backlight inverter

In regards to options 1 and 2, you would probably be best to perform a "power reset" of the TV.  Follow the instructions : HERE

In regards to 3 and 4, you would need to contact an authorised Sony Repair Centre : HERE in order to get this diagnosed.

At this moment in time, I cannot think of any further options.  Therefore do a power reset and if that works, great.  Remember if it does work, you will have lost all settings on the tv (ie freeview channels), simple go through the setup procedures again (ie retuning)
