Best USB stick for BT-3900U

I bought a  BT-3900U car stereo a few months ago and am mostly very pleased with it. However, it doesn't appear to be compatible with the 32GB Verbatim Netbook USB drive that I purchased at the same time. At the start of every journey the playback from the USB pauses for ten to fifteen seconds, which is very frustrating. I have tried it with a Sandisk 16GB USB stick and it works fine.

There is a list of compatible sticks on Sony's website, however they are all manufactured by Sony and none are the low profile that I require.

Has anybody got this, or a similar head unit, and been completely successful with a low profile USB stick? I'm hoping to get one without a flashing LEDas I think this would be distracting when driving at night. At the moment the Sandisk is playing perfectly, but it is only a matter of time before I bend or break it, and possibly risk damaging the head unit too.

Verbatim also do the low profile sticks in 8 and 16GB. Might this work better as they are smaller, and my other 16GB stick works? Or is it likely to be more to with the manufacturer?

The 8GB Verbatim is only £7, so i'm not against taking a gamble on that, if anyone thinks it will be worth it? The advantage is that it has not flashing LED>
