Xm4 disconnect from previous device when connecting to another

With my WF 1000 XM3 (earbuds), if I'm paired to two devices and connected to one, if I connect from the second device, it automatically disconnects from the first. This is very convenient. However, with the WH 1000XM4, if I'm connected to one device, and connect from a second, I have to disconnect from the first device before the second can connect... It doesn't happen automatically. Is there something I'm missing? Did Sony really go backwards with this obviously software controlled feature?

While simultaneously connecting to two devices is interesting, when I have numerous devices I need to switch between, not having an auto disconnect is a major pain.

Hi,

I don't think what you're facing is a fault with your headphones. The instructions clearly point out that you need to disconnect the headphones from a previous device before connecting a second:

I know it "clearly" points it out. I'm saying this is a limitation, as the Sony WF-1000XM3 doesn't have this issue. It's really a pain to deal with when you have 4 computers, a phone, and a console in the same room that you want to switch between.

What I'm affirmative of is that Sony don't do things willy nilly, so there must have been some technical limitations that dictated things are to be done this way.

I'd say it's more that the WF-1000XM3 team are slightly different to the WH team. The WH has never had this feature, whereas the WF has. The WH has simultaneous connect to two devices now... there's no technical reason why it can't disconnect a connected device when a new (already paired) device wishes to connect. I'm guessing they may bring this in a software update soon.

Hi ashic

What you're saying maybe true, but what's important is for users to know that at least for now, this is how the headphones are meant to behave (whatever the reason may be). I've raised feedback about this to Sony in case something can be done about it.
