Multiple/duplicate entries in contacts list

Hi! I am using SONY XPERIA XA1 mobile phone. Multiple/duplicate entries have been created against each in the contact list, without prompting. Any suggestions how to delete!

go to Google Contacts, there is an option there to delete duplicate entries
