Phone not picking up new memory card

I have put a new memory card in my phone but it is not picking it up, it normally says sd card detected & asks if want to install but the phone is not picking it up?

@Joanne1  have you tried the SD card in another device or card reader? Usually after restart you should find it. Try removing and putting it back.
