Photo and video transfer to SD card

I have recently added an SD card to my device as I was receiving a message telling me the internal memory was full. However when I transferred my photos and videos across to the SD card I can now no longer view them? I can see a black type thumbnail to indicate there is something there but I can't open it? The photos that have been sent to me are okay as are photos I have edited. However I cannot see the rest which is extremely frustrating 😤. Any ideas how to retrieve them? I am running android version 9. Cheers

Hi @Budgie12, welcome to our forum!

That doesn't sound very good. Slightly_frowning_Face

Is it the same if you try and view them using the Google Photos application or if you can connect your device to a computer and view the photos this way?

If it works fine when viewing them on a computer or using another application, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all xx apps > tap the three dots in the top right corner > Show system.

Scroll down in the list and find "Media storage" > tap on it and then tap on "Storage" > Clear data > OK. Restart the device and wait 20 minutes for the device to read in all media again and then open up the Album application and see if there is any change.

Let me know if that helped! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi @Budgie12, sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face

There was no change after you restarted the device and then waited for all the pictures and photos to be read in again? If you just open up the Album app directly, there will be no data there since the device is busy reading it all in again so it can be displayed.

If there is no change after you have waited a while, you can try and get in touch with the manufacturer of your SD card and see if they have any recovery software that you can try and use to get the photos and videos back.
