Never updated Sony ericsson xperia arc s help ASAP

Hello , i have never update my Sony Ericsson xperia arc S , since getting it 2 years ago ive tried to update it numerous times how ever it keeps failing .

I tried on my phone its self in the settings on the option software update it says my phone is upto date .

I have tried on the computer i have the sony pc companion app and i use it get up to the part where it tells me to turn off my phone and restart it i do all the steps how ever nothing comes up on my computer or phone to tell me it is updating at all so please help !

Network - 3 mobile

Model Number - LT18i

Android version - 2.3.4

Build Number - 4.0.2.C.0.5

P.S . I HAVE NEVER UPDATED THE PHONE BEFORE !

The problem is your carrier/network 3 mobile, they did not approved nor released the ICS update.

keep in mind that your phone will slow down quite a bit, before you update your phone make sure to create a backup of your current firmeware

okay im not sure how exactly to do that , but ill give it a try however now the pc companion app is saying i carnt use my laptop to update my phone cause its not windows 7 my laptop is windows 8 ?

I don't think its worth it jus to have one app, but that's up to you, again your phone will be a lot slower with ICS.

Uninstall and reinstall PCC

Trust me, ICS on a Arc S is painfully slow.

I ended up rolling mine back to Gingerbread, so much better for the Arc S hardware.

hi....I bought Sony arc s from a grey market in India ..... now I'm.using Vodafone network....I think this is unlocked....bcos it was having 3 network application.....I'm running on 4.0.4 .....but my problem is it is having build no....4.1.L.0.8 but others running ics 4.0.4 are having 4.1.B.0.587 build no....so when I googled how to root this device every1 are guiding how to root 4.1.B.0.587 build no.....so what should I do now to root my device....
