Still no Dutch + AZERTY keyboard? :-(

I just installed the 10.1.1.A.1.253 update. Unfortunately, it is still not possible to select the AZERTY keyboard layout with Dutch as input language.

Nevertheless, the majority of Belgian people speak Dutch and AZERTY is the official keyboard layout in our country.

If you don't believe me: AZERTY keyboard layout and languages of Belgium.

I have never had this problem on my iPhone.

@Sony Xperia Support: please pass this on. It would be very nice if the layout selection menu (see screenshot), which is currently available for French and German, can be added for Dutch too.

Hello Sony Xperia Support, any update on this?

Of all the software issues posted on this forum, this one must be one of the easiest ones to fix by your developers...

I would really appreciate if you could pass this on to the right people Slightly_smiling_Face

Nick,

This is not a Sony Firmware isseu, but a Android bug.

This is normally solved with Android Jelly Bean 4.2

I use 2 solutions : I use Belgium French Keyboard (Azerty) and activated a second language (Dutch).  I have to send messages in both languages, so this helps me to spellingchecks in both languages.

An other solution is to install keyboards like 'SwiftKey Keyboard'. They do support Belgium Dutch Azerty.

This is not an Android bug, because Sony does not use the stock Android keyboard, they include their own keyboard ("Xperia™ keyboard"). I checked on a Samsung Galaxy S4 (which has Android 4.2) and it has the same problem because Samsung also includes a custom keyboard.

I don't wish to use bilangual word suggestions because I never write French on my Xperia, only Dutch and English, so I don't want to get French word suggestions all the time. Also, I don't like SwiftKey. Xperia keyboard looks much nicer and better integrated with the rest of the user interface.

If someone from the Xperia Support team can forward this issue to the developers that are responsible for "Xperia™ keyboard", then perhaps they could add the "Select layout variant" menu for Dutch too.

Oh, and you could say "you'll get used to QWERTY", which is true, because in the meanwhile I already caught myself typing QWERTY on my AZERTY PC keyboard as a result of this Neutral_Face

Sony, please allow your customers to use the keyboard layout of their country. My Sony VAIO notebook, which has been bought in Flanders (the Dutch speaking part of Belgium) also has an AZERTY keyboard.

I can forward this as feedback but currently i think the only solution is to use french layout and bilingual word suggestions or switch to another keyboard.

Thank you for forwarding this issue.

I think this can be considered as a bug, because AZERTY is the official layout in Belgium too (where the majority speaks Dutch).

Let's hope that it will be fixed in the next software version.

It still isn't fixed..
Bought a Sony Xperia M last week and I still get this problem, now I temporary use the french azerty with dutch as second language, but it really annoys me that I now mainly get french word suggestion..
Still hope they'll forward this problem to sony and fix it.
It can't be that hard 😛

Just bought a new Sony Xperia Z1.

But... no azerty with Dutch keyboard. How disappointing after having used Iphone for more than 2 years.

Will this become available in the near future?
