BBC iPlayer Blue Planet 2 uhd hdr

10th December this will be available on uhd and hdr on Sony 2017 models. 

Did anyone hear of a plan to introduce the  BBC hdr to older Sony models? I believe they are using a different type of hdr than currently installed on the 2015 /2016 models.

How would we watch 4k programes on the TV? Would it be via the iPlayer app ?

In theory yes.

However the iPlayer app installed on my set is still a 2016 Youview compatible version with maximum 720p resolution (despite the firmware update).

It looks like the set can now cope with HLG via DASH as used by iPlayer, but the app itself still can't!

So until the App is updated and the Android sets are put on the BBC whitelist I fear we will still be waiting....
