Issue with Bravia TV - red light?

Hi all

I am new to this but I need a bit of help please? Our tv was working fine yesterday I never noticed anything different about it and switched it off as normal last night. When I switched it back on this morning, it came on with the green light at the front as normal, then it changed to solid red. It's working fine, I can get guides up etc but this light is normally green? I have searched the internet for any ideas but all the discussions talk about a blinking red light, and mine stays solid. I have an 8 year old son and I'm wondering if he has pressed something by accident? Any guidance appreciated!!

Hi thanks for your suggestion. I tried this and the tv went off the light turned green but when it came back on automatically when 'Sony' appeared on the screen the light remained green then turned red again. It is still on solid red. Aaaargh!!!

Thanks

Hi @Lelly123. Perhaps a factory reset. Depending on your model it will be something like:

Hi @Lelly123

A constant red light on some Bravia models indicates that it is in standby / power off.

(Which is very odd if you're screen is still on etc.)

Which model TV do you have?

Hi thanks for your reply.

Yes the red light is the same as the stand by light but the tv is working fine??? I've tried a soft reset as someone else suggested but no joy. The model number is KDL-40R553C

I suggested the soft reset which as that has not worked leaves you with a factory reset as suggested above.

I would advise disconnecting ALL external equipment that you have connected as well, just leave the standard aerial connected.

On the recording question... that could only have been a poosibility if you had at some point purposely connected a suitable USB drive and then configured that drive in the menus to be used as a place to store recordings. If you haven't done all that then its not going to be that

The factory reset is ther option of last resort tbh although it should place the TV back to 'out of the box' state.

One further quick thought on this. On my Sony there is a configuration menu for the LED itself. I've never investigated it or altered anything there but I seem to recall you could alter both its behaviour and I think colour.

Worth investigating before trying the full reset.
