Switch on/off impossible with XR-65A80L controller through RF

Hello,

I just received my new Bravia XR-65A80L with a rmf-tx900u remote controller.

The controller works like a charm using RF for every commands but the switch on/off operations for which I must have to point the TV (meaning works with IF?).

It is really annoying because I have a soundbar covering partially the IF sensor, and aside this, RF is really more convenient.

Any idea(s) of what is going wrong ?

Hi @jLn_38   The remote power button is a toggle switch, it doesn’t know whether it is switching the TV on or off. It appears to be purely IR.

Hi @jLn_38   Just guessing, I would imagine that the TV has to be on for the RF to work. So catch 22, the TV will not switch on using RF because the TV is not on. Does your sound bar not have IR pass through.

If you have the vertical space you can think about mounting the Stand in the Soundbar position...

The TV has probably got a Google Assist button on the remote, press and hold and say TV Off and TV On.

The TV has three options for fitting the stand one of which is a higher setting to sit above a soundbar,

have a look at this PDF.

Here is a link to the Sony Support page for your TV, here you get access to manuals, downloads and Q&As.

No it does not have, this is an 10 years old Sony 5.1 sound system.

@Marino.Manolo @daveyh64 unfortunately I can't for now since the tv stand is not large enough to host the tv feet in this position.

My point was that I'd prefer to avoid using IF, generally speaking it less convenient to use when you're lazy to point the TV with the controller 😅
