Video on all apps pauses randomly

Hi, 

Not sure if anyone has had the same problem.

I have a KD-55XG8796, running the latest firmware

When I watch contents on all streaming apps, Prime, Netflix and through all browsers I've tried, the picture pauses for about 1 to 3 seconds (the sound keeps playing) and resumes playing by itself. It happens randomly and mostly after it's been playing for at least 10-15 mins.

I have tried three different routers, power reset my TV, cleared the cache, data, uninstalled and reinstalled those apps. I have even factory reset my TV and turned options on and off to test.

However, the problem still persists.

The TV is connected via Wi-Fi. The router is right next to my TV. My internet speed is 200 mbps. Plugging it via an ethernet cable doesn't solve the issue. I don't have a network issue.

I'm running out of options and having a video pausing randomly out of nowhere when I watch something is annoying.

I never had any problem like this on any other brands of TV. This is my first Sony TV. And quite frankly, it's really crappy. Can't stream any videos without the picture freezing.

Please provide some help!

Has anyone gone through this and fixed it?

I've found the same problem on another forum but there was no solution.

Updated firmware to v6.4774 seems to have solved my problem. 🤞🏻

Hi @Derharne

 

This is an odd one. I wonder if you see any freezing with Live TV or content from external devices (HDMI/USB)??

Live TV is fine it only happens on streaming. It even happens when streaming on my local network and when using an ethernet cable. I found a forum where quite a few people had the same issues but no one had a solution. 

I've been using Netflix on Sky Q as it works fine on there. Prime works fine on my fire tv but I'd rather just use the built in app. I use Nova video player on my local network.

I've read that XH firmware works on XG tvs, don't know if it's worth trying that?
