Youview unavailability

Youview unavailability

We have just bought the KDL 50W809C having seen it demonstrated in a well known suppliers.

The Youview sold it for us. as well as the screen image quality, however having received delivery of it and installed it we find that we now need a traditional ariel to get access to Youwiew.

We only have a Freesat dish so Youview is useless for us.

Buying an ariel would be futile because of the position where we live we can not get a signal from an ariel, hence fitting of a sat dish.

This was not explained to us on demonstration.

Has anyone any ideas how to get it without an ariel. Thanks.

Hi there

YouView is another EPG for the Freeview system with some added benefits, such as scrolling back on the EPG to catchup on tv shows.

Unfortunately you will need an aerial that is capable of getting a digital terrestrial signal.  See:

Even though Sony TVs can obtain a satellite signal from its satellite tuner, it has a minimal EPG - Sony does not have any Freesat TVs in its range.

If you have been mis-sold, you must take this up with the retailer you purchased the tv from.
