Sony TA-AN1000 loud bang when I switch TV on

  • Recently purchased the 1000 receiver from Sony. It's connected to a Sony X95L 65" TV using new 48 bit HDMI cable, using the eARC input.

The receivers standby modes are all switched off.

The TV's HDMI sync features are switched off as I don't want the receiver auto switching on every time I watch TV. Firmware is up to date on both units.

The issue I'm having is, when the TV is turned on from standby the receiver makes a loud clunk noise. This also happens when turning the receiver on/off.

Can anyone tell me if I have a faulty unit? Or if there's a way to stop this?

Did you try to disconnect it and reconnect it again? @mpezzer

Hi @mpezzer   Have you tried a normal (cheap) short high speed HDMI cable?

The HDMI cable I'm using is 1.5 meters long it wasn't expensive.

Thank you for your reply.

Hi, so I tried turning it off and on, it's still the same. I've deleted connected devices from the TV and then reinstalled them. Still the same noise.

I don't understand why turning on the TV causes the receiver to klunk

@mpezzer I guess that might happened if the receiver or the TV experienced sudden power surge or something, try another AC outlet for example. If not, I believe you need to contact Sony to check with their technical support: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/contact/
