I am only posting this question because currently I am using a SE Xperia Ray phone and one can't access its internal memory on the PC using a USB cable. You can only access the SD card using the USB.
I am thinking of buying an Xperia M4 Aqua. but since it only has 8GBs of internal memory (lesser than that user available), I am planning to use Android Marshmellow's option of converting an external SD card into internal memory in order to increase my memory, once I get the marshmellow update.
But because of the issue which I am having with my Xperia Ray I am now concerned if whether I will unable to transfer my personal files (music, videos) into the Internal memory once I have converted the SD card.
Was that an issue with only the Xperia Ray phone or is it common to all Xperia phones?
Please help me to resolve this issue before I can go buy this phone.
Thanks!

Hi There,
I have M4 Aqua dual 16 GB variant....in this too there is no option called MSC or MTP modes to access the memories on your PC.
But overall it's a decent phone to go for..
Hey Thanks for replying. Can you please explain what MSC and MTP are. I am a complete noob when it comes to technical things.
Does that mean your M4 Aqua can only access the SD card memory only?
I would have gone for the 16GB version myself but its not available in my market. I would have gone for the M5 but it has this issue with an auto shutdown problem so I thought better go for the M4.
The specs of the M4 are not bad at all, the only concern I have is with the memory capacity.
Listening to music is a huge requirement for me in a phone. But if I won't be able to tranfer any of my music files into the internal memory (after converting the SD card to internal memory using Marshmellow I mean) I won't be able to do that.
There's no info if Sony's update will have that option, I hope it does, but what it means is that the SD card will not behave as an SD card anymore until its reformated, in other words, the SD card should not be removed once formated and you will be able to access it as if it was internal storage on your phone
I understand that. I know that I won't be able to access the SD card once I format it into internal memory.
But my question is will I be able to access that internal memory (once formatted) and store my personal files in it?
That is the issue with my current Xperia Ray phone, where I can't access my internal memory via USB. Will the M4 Aqua have the same issue once I convert the SD card into Internal memory?
Thanks for that reply. Lets hope it will be like that
